Lingual Exposé is a research initiative using ultrasound technology to observe the intraoral manipulations made during saxophone performance. Data collection was made possible by Dr. Joshua Gardner with the Performance Physiology Research Laboratory at Arizona State University, in Tempe, Arizona. Below are videos displaying different manipulations of the vocal tract during saxophone performance. If you have any questions or thoughts, please be sure to reach out here!
Additional ultrasound examples coming soon to my YouTube Channel!
***If you are interested in being a research participant, please reach out. The next scheduled data collection is in March 2024, focusing on middle school & high school level saxophonists with minimal experience producing and manipulating overtones and the altissimo register on alto and/or tenor saxophones.***
Findings have been published in the Saxophone Symposium (Vol.43, 2020).
